The girls, as usual, had a wonderful time playing in the basement, catching various creatures outside, and hanging out with family. We occupied our time with the following activities:
- Leslie's birthday dinner
- a little girl sleepover with Leslie at Grandpa and Grandma Gottschalk's
- our annual lunch at Dick's Drive-In with Grandpa and Grandma Gottschalk, and Lana
- playing with cousins and Leslie's dog Jasper
- Cookies and Coffee at Grandpa and Grandma Gottschalk's, with Uncle David, Dean, and his girlfriend Natasha
- Fourth of July cookout at Aunt Debbie's with lots of extended family we hadn't seen in ages
He may only be driving plastic cars yet, but he is SERIOUS about it!
Connie and Grandpa and Grandma Gottschalk got Jackson this shirt last spring, around the time he was beginning to prove his newly-minted independence by means of his teeth. I love that he looks like a little terror in this picture, while wearing this shirt!
A funny story from Leslie:
She was in the kitchen with Jasper, while Jackson was standing on the other side of her watching the dog with awe. She said in her authoritative no-nonsense voice, "Jasper, lie down!" Jasper immediately obeyed, but not as fast as Jackson, who thought she'd just ordered him to do it! He went face down to the floor, wide-eyed with concern that he'd been caught doing something bad that he didn't even know about yet. Leslie should have been a drill sergeant!
Like always, my growing-up home was a very fun and relaxing spot to stop. Soon enough we were itching to get back on the road again, as we had many more places to see. On Saturday, July 2, after briefly attending Aunt Debbie's festive Fourth of July picnic, we turned the car toward Angola, Indiana; the summer home of Great Grandpa and Grandma Forman.
