When we pulled up to our larger, farther away cabin, we were pleased to see how quaint were both its floorplan and its setting.
I'll take you on a 360 degree tour inside. I'm standing in the center of the main part of the cabin, turning clockwise. The above picture includes the front door.
As I turn to the right, we have the breakfast nook, followed by the stairs to the loft.
Continuing in our circle, we have the wood-burning stove, which it was too hot to use during our visit; a good thing for Jackson's sake. You can also see the hallway leading back to the two downstairs bedrooms, the bathroom, and the laundry area.
The final point on our pivot is the full kitchen.
The master was located in the loft, upstairs.
There was another single bed tucked up under the eaves for a small person, if needed.
This is the room we used for Jackson's pack n play.
The girls were thrilled to find bunk beds with pink sheets. They felt right at home!
*A note about the bunk beds. If you will notice in the above picture, there is no guard rail on the top bunk, something of which I failed to take notice. The first night, after Maddie tucked the tooth she'd lost in a plastic bag under her pillow, and after Franz and I had gone to bed, we heard a tremendous crash. Rushing downstairs, I saw Maddie sitting on the couch. "Did you fall out of bed?" I asked her anxiously. She just stared at me. I repeated the question and she slowly answered, "No." "What happened?" I asked. I was not getting responses and was starting to freak out. I asked her if she knew where she was and she answered that she was in bed. Then she started saying very strange things about being inside someone just like blood is, and planting a plant on a chair. Suddenly it dawned on me that she was sleeping. I looked in at her top bunk, and sure enough the covers were draping to the floor. She'd fallen out of bed, and not woken up, sleep-walking to the sofa. She was talking in her sleep. I checked her out and she was fine, so we tucked her in with Katie on the lower bunk for the remainder of the night. The next morning, after we explained what happened to her, she did find a knot on her head, and then located the guard rail for the bunk, tucked back behind the bed at the base of the wall. Impossible to see.
The porch was great! It was big, it has this cool wooden rocker, it had a picnic table, and it attracted bugs, some of which were cool and some of which were not.
Plus, there was a dinner bell, which is always a good time!
We have great memories of the cabin and our time there. It was a needed break from the "go-go-go," as Jackson likes to say. We'd love to go back sometime, and there is a sister cabin down a little pathway from this one, so let me know if you'd like to join us...
