I've had a wonderful time getting to know the fun, bright kids of first grade who love to learn and work so hard to please.
My last day's activites included:
- Listening to sight word / phrase recitation and giving awards for effort
- Sharpening classroom pencils and picking up teacher correspondence in the office workroom
- Leading a reading group with four of the students including Madeline. We read the first two chapters of a Cam Jansen mystery book aloud in the hall, stopping to discuss it as we went. Then we came up with a group consensus for the main idea of each chapter and they recorded them in their notebooks.
The students have come a long way since August and I will miss watching them progress in the next few months, as well. So long to the kids of classroom 111.
On a separate note: this is not, regrettably, my last day at work.
