Leslie in Indiana in the Winter

Leslie apparently missed the super cold while in Washington State last winter. She and Steve worked hard Saturday and Sunday clearing a skating area on the lake. Yesterday she and Jasper tried it out late in the day.

After crashing into a snow pile as he rounded a corner chasing Leslie around the rink, Jasper decided to root out a critter under a bush up by the house. Following many minutes of rooting, snorting, pawing, and enthusiastic tail-wagging, he turned up a very frightened mouse or vole that skittered up the wall and out of sight before Jasper ever saw him. He would be still searching for that little guy, if Leslie hadn't taken him home. I'm pretty sure he can't wait to come back and try again!

We are enjoying having the two of them around the area!

Most of the time only Jasper's tail was showing under the bush as he struggled to find his catch. Too bad he missed it. But I'll bet it will be back as the bush is perfectly placed beneath the bird feeder and the birds keep the ground below well-covered with kernels just right for a rodent in the winter!

The rink looks awesome! Such a pretty evening, too.
