Having the Last Word

It was quite a night tonight. The garage actually got cleaned. Everyone was relatively happy, too, until Madeline slipped on some water drying on the back patio, and trying not to spill a cup full of grapes and tomatoes, didn't catch herself with her hands. Caught herself with her chin. Ouch! She cut up the underside of the chin - a little slice, and bit her tongue pretty hard. The tongue really bled for awhile. We butterflied the chin and iced it. She got to take a bath with Katie and dance to Point of Grace, so everything evened out by bedtime.

Just before I walked out of her room, I said, "Okay, tonight you are not going to get out of bed anymore once I leave the room. Do you understand?" (She had gotten up umpteen times last night.) Before I could even finish my sentence, Maddie said, "Why?" I repeated, "No. You are not going to get out of bed again after I leave the room. Do you understand?"

Carefully looking at me, she replied, "Well, Momma, I understand, but I don't understand why."

I hope you are ready! She isn't ever going to be satisfied with the easy answer!

Hope her tongue and chin heal quickly and fairly painlessly!

That story reminds me of the annoying "what if..." questions that I am called upon to answer numerous times a day. Except my inquirers are 13, yours is 3! I do feel for you, believe me.
