Cupcakes

When Katie and her friend signed on for the Pump It Up party this year, that meant there was very little for me to do to get ready. Pump It Up provides the food, gift bags, activities, balloons, etc. My friend and I split up the one thing left to do: cupcakes.

She baked them and I decorated them.

We didn't have any sort of theme, so I just branched off of the crazy bold colors at the facility.

I made frosting and colored sugar in red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple. Then I went to Target to the bulk candy aisle, and used the giant scoops to try to pick through the gumballs to get just the blue ones. All the other colors, were available as runts, also in bulk candy.

I had lots of fun working with all the colors while the kids were at school and Jackson was napping. I put on the movie Evita, and got lost in my own world.

I frosted 5 or 6 cupcakes in each color. They all had black liners with white polka dots on them. After I frosted them, I rolled the edges in a matching colored sugar. Then I placed three similarly colored candies on top.

I wish you could have saved one for me. Runts on a cupcake?! Heaven! They look awesome. Well done.

Well, we could make some for Leslie's birthday when we're both in town...
