The Last Day of School

The last day of school snuck up pretty quickly just after Katie's party week, and during the month of Franz's birthday, Jackson's dedication, Teacher Appreciation Week, Franz's Mom's retirement and party, Mother's Day, double stomach flu, and swimming lessons. Suddenly, it was upon us!

I was a volunteer in Madeline's 1st grade class this year until Jackson was born. After that, I still attended the many class performances and parties and field day. Somehow, in the middle of all those occasions, Jackson was dubbed the class mascot and swarmed by a classroomful of adoring fans. It was a fun year with a wonderful teacher and great friends. The end of the year marked out of state moves for a couple of her friends. One moved to Louisiana the week before school was out, and Shauna, the girl on the right in the picture above, moved to California just before Memorial Day.

Katie ended the year with a bang. Her last day was just a program for the parents, so she finished up at 10:30 that morning. It was a luau / beach theme with lots of sugary snacks to get the parents used to the summer jitters in their kids, I guess.

Here Katie is with her three Pre-K teachers, my good friend Ms. Laura on the left, Ms. Tammy in the middle, and Ms. Renee on the right. The matching flowers were for the occasion, not a standard uniform.
