Scenes of Christmas

The girls and I went with our friend Chloe and her mom Tena to see Winnie the Pooh's Christmas Tail by the Valley Youth Theatre. It was very exciting for the girls to watch live theatre for the first time, and they were able to meet all the cast members afterward. Even Katie had a good time with the characters.

In what has become an annual trek, we took the girls over to Riverside, CA to stay at the beautiful restored Mission Inn, which decorates in grand style for Christmas. We met elves, reindeer, carolers (even live ones singing in four part harmony as they walked the grounds), and saw billions of lights.
Having gotten "in the spirit," the girls put on their Santa hats before bed.
We traveled first to Wheaton, IL to visit Franz's parents. The plane ride was fine and the weather wasn't that bad for air travel. The landing was definitely the roughest I've experienced, but the only thing that phased Katie was being told what to do, which resulted in kicking fits on the floors of both airports. That was fun.
We spent Christmas Eve and Day in Illinois, then headed over to Indiana the next day and started partying some more!
It was fun to hang out with the whole crew on our home turf from the 26th, up until we hit the road again (this time driving back) on the 30th. We drove through Memphis to reconnect with old friends and favorite BBQ joints. Having satisfied both, we returned to Phoenix, arriving in the middle of the night on the 2nd.
All in all, everyone in our house agrees that it was a good time.

Thank you again for making the journey. We really appreciate it and know it is not easy! It was super to have everyone "home" again at Christmas!

I know it's quite circular to thank someone for a thank you note, but they were SO cute. I loved it! Good idea, Em.
