Jaimee Draper and I overheard Madeline and Jake under the kitchen table the other night:
M: Jakey, when I grow up and you grow up, I want you to marry me and give me a ring. Okay? Is that going to be okay? You can give me a ring.
Exchange of smiles; exchange of hugs.
Me: Um, I think our kids just got engaged!
When leaving, Jake said: "One more thing," and ran and kissed Maddie right on the lips! He turned red and ran and hid. His parents yelled.
Franz finished the evening by teaching Madeline how to turn her head at just the right moment and give him the cheek. Not a move he was ever too fond of on the receiving end, as I recall.
