Easter

I don't have many good Easter pictures, but will post what I have. Unfortunately, it is so challenging to both keep Jackson alive and wield a camera that I often have to default to the well-being of the baby and forgo the pics.

A friend and I went to the sunrise service at church. It was outside, sunny, beautiful. I came home to find the girls all ready in their dresses and Jackson in his little outfit. We sat down to a breakfast of pecan sticky buns I'd made the night before, fruit, and colored hard-boiled eggs. Oh, and lots of coffee!

Then, we had our Easter egg hunt in the backyard. (That's right, folks, we finally have a back yard at this house!)

The girls had pink, purple, and yellow eggs to find throughout the yard.

Jackson had blue, green, and orange eggs, all located in the grass directly out the back door. He immediatley spotted a group of three, stopped to pick them up and rattle them and...

realized he had FREEDOM! Here he was in the backyard without anyone holding him or reprimanding him; allowed to roam freely...

And that was the last of his interest in the eggs! He headed off a a quick clip toward the rocks. Jackson loves practicing his walking on uneven surfaces. No amount of coaxing could get him to stay on the grass, much less stop moving and pick up an egg!

Finally, to appease us I think, he grabbed an egg from an outstretched hand. In his meaty little fist, he popped it open one-handed and tossed the contents into his mouth. He barely had to stop moving to make it happen!

After the family church service, we put together our special Easter dinner - full of Franz's family favorites with recipes from both sides of his family. We had Grandma Hollewell's ham balls and Grandma Forman's cheesy potatoes. I made my specialty, steamed broccoli (I know, I know). The girls had jello egg jigglers of lime and orange. We had rolls, and jams, and lemon bars, and cupcakes decorated with green coconut (grass) and jelly beans (eggs). It was a fun, delicious day!
