Worst Wake-Up Calls

So, today I experienced two of the worst ways to wake up, no, three:
  • Kids screaming across the house at 4:30 AM
  • A charley horse in the calf at 6:30 AM (while Katie was sleeping on my chest and Maddie was in between Franz and I in a queen-sized bed)
  • My alarm clock going off at 7:30 AM

So, that got me wondering. What ARE the worst ways to wake up? Anyone else have pet peeves here?

I'm going to agree with all 3 of those and add...snoring (not mine :)) and the dog barking. Hope you have a better morning tomorrow!

I second the snoring bit. We all know how crazy it makes me. Kicking the sides of hotel beds to make it stop. Moaning - "For the love" over and over until the offending snorer wakes up to my mantra and ceases snoring. Although, charley horse is equally awful.

The sound of shattering glass got us good one time (it was just a glass Wes knocked off the end table in his sleep onto a hardwood floor).

I totally agree about the charley horse - I've scared Andrew to death a few times by waking up screaming in pain from them. :)

How about howling coyotes five feet away on the other side of the nylon tent barrier? Creepy!

Since "charley" horse doesn't imply an actual animal, you win! Wild animals and restful sleep definitely don't mix!
