Ah! Jackson just came down with croup and we've been at the doctor's this afternoon trying to get it under control before night hits.
The doctor said he is too young for this. He is usually very easy going, but was not reassuring in this case! He was worried. We have an appointment to see him at 8 tomorrow morning, but we have to get through this night first!
I've got the humidifier, I'm making a bed on the floor of his room for me, and the bathroom is attached for a quick steam session. I've confirmed that the children's wing of the hospital has a 24/7 emergency room (that hopefully we won't need to visit!).
Wish me luck...

I was praying for you last night. Hope you made it through w/o an ER visit. Keep us updated!
No ER visit! The medicine did kick-in in time, despite his receiving it late. Jackson had a tough time going to sleep, and woke up once at 11. I was able to keep him calm with a bottle, and he went back to sleep and slept through the night!
I slept on the floor in his room, and got up with my alarm clock at 6:30 to get ready to take him to the doctor this morning. He woke up at 7:00.
Doctor was ready to give us another breathing treatment on the spot, but was thrilled with his progress this morning, and we left unmedicated. Jackson's cough is more productive now, and he isn't having that wheezing breath anymore.
Whew! Thank you, God!
Amen! Thank you, Lord!
I'm glad to hear he's on the mend. Poor little dude!
Michael's family has a history of croupy coughs...so we've all learned some strategies one can use. If things get bad, running the shower and making it steam, then getting in it with the little one, can be very helpful. Corbin likes to drink warm tea (chamomile is great for wee ones). When he and Abby were babies, I'd run a very hot bath and get in with the baby on my chest and stomach, close to, but not in the water, so they could breathe the vapors. Sometimes a little eucalyptus essential oil can help loosen things up. And I would let them lay propped against me in the night in whatever way we could both be comfortable and get sleep until the breathing eased out.
