I've noticed a strange categorization about people now that I'm pregnant and showing. First of all, lots of people feel the need to comment about my overall health and look, which is fine but funny. For the most part I've noticed that when asked how far along I am (6 months) most women say some along the lines of, "Wow! You look great! I can't believe how small you look!" On the other hand, most men (or at least the ones not currently standing next to the elbows of their wives) say something like, "Are you sure you're not having twins?! And you're not due at Christmas?! Wow!" Totally different perceptions of the exact same thing.
In fact, one delightful trucker who happened to be up front at the office when I was, made some of those general comments about how huge I was. Shelly, our Admin and mother of 3, stuck up for me and told him I looked exactly as I should for how far along I was. He looked quite doubtful, referencing his source of credibility as, "My ex-wife had had one of those (babies). But it was a long time ago." Somehow I knew he'd have an ex-wife before he'd even said it...
