Madeline wrote me this poem "in about 10 minutes," she said.
Mother
A Poem
My mother loves me. She comforts me when I cry, and is careful not to step on the sadness of my tears at they fall to the ground. And she hugs me. She loves me.
She makes sure to let the sunshine sink into my cheeks and fill me with sunny thoughts. And she kisses me. She loves me.
I love her too.
I hug her...
I kiss her...
I love her.

Um, wow. Her command of language in word pictures--abstract thoughts--is awesome. I'm really impressed. And, it's really sweet. My gosh. I think we might have a poet on our hands.
