I really, really, really hate jeans shopping. But I also really like to have a good, friendly pair of jeans to wear, and my friendliest pair is looking very sorry these days. The seams are threadbare and unrepairable. Any other jeans I have just don't fit right. I don't know if they ever did at one time or not, but they all seem to sag. It was down to the point that if I wanted to wear them, I'd have to put on a pair of plaid boxers and loop a chain from the belt loop.
So, I'm preparing to pack for a trip to the Midwest (so excited to see old friends!) and knew the jeans situation had to be handled. It just so happened that I ended up with an unexpected hour in my day today, which is very unusual, so I hauled Katie over to Kohl's - the place I found my friendly jeans over five years ago. Yes, I have really put it off that long.
In half an hour, I went through over 40 pairs of jeans. Trying them on is demoralizing and depressing, at least for me. Plus, it's really boring for Katie. Neither of us were super happy about the trip, but I couldn't delay it for one more year. Finally, as I'd narrowed the choices down to the least gappy, stretchy, pully, bunchy, saggy pairs - the lights in the dressing rooms went out. Seriously. Apparently I am not meant to jeans-shop. So, feeling done with the situation, I loaded up a few different pairs and bought them all so I could get out of there and try them on at home later. Thankfully Kohl's has a good return policy so it's not a big deal.
What I'm wondering is: am I the only person out there who detests shopping for jeans? How can it be so hard to find a fit that fits? So, let me know if you hate it too, any tips or brands you have found that I need to know about, or if I'm just off my rocker.

Every time I think I've found the right jeans, it's usually not. :) And I LOVE jeans - I wear them all the time!
My favorite brand is Lee - last time I found the perfect pair (about the same amount of time ago :)) they were Lee and I bought two pairs. One is shredded now and the other isn't much better. :) I also have had decent success at Banana Republic. Good Luck!
NEVER off your rocker, Em. Never. Jeans shopping is THE worst. I, too, hate it. I happened upon a good sale in a store I'd never heard of (Vanity) in the Muncie mall last spring. Found a pair -- the largest size they had, which said it was an 11, but was actually sized about an 8. I bought them, and love them, but didn't have fun looking for them. I stole a pair of Kyle's from American Eagle, which fit VERY nicely in the loose sort of way. He also got a pair for me out of the Goodwill pile from one of his coworkers. I don't know what brand they are.
