The wedding of one's child is a major joyous event in a person's life! Lana and Kyle's wedding last week was delightful, awesome, and just what one hopes one's daughter's wedding will be! From the delicious rehearsal dinner complete with a home video of Lana at about age 8 "presiding" over a wedding between Amy and Kyle, to the tossing of fragrant lavender blossom wishes as the bridal couple took their leave at the end of the festivities the next day (lavender which our own Leslie cultivated, harvested, processed, and carried with her from Lavender Wind Farm in Washington state where she has worked since January), it was a time of celebration, laughs, and memories of the past and memories in the making. The joining of family and friends on a gorgeous late summer day at the lakeside made for a magical (as Kris described it) celebration. The four flower girls in long white dresses and silver shoes running, dancing, laughing, and holding hands reminded one of fairies in the glen.
How blessed we were to have grandparents, great aunts and uncles, and many other family members and friends join with us! Lana and Kyle wanted to share the day with those they love and who have contributed in their lives. They appreciated all who came and those who were unable to be there in person, but sent their love and best wishes.
Without the assistance of many wonderful people, it would have been impossible to relax and enjoy the day. Thank you to everyone who helped in any way...our other children and their spouses - Emily, Franz, Leslie, Evan, Emily - poured themselves out, as did Tanya, Calli, Tommy and Tracy, Frank and Joan, Sara, Joyce and the caterers from the UMW, Jack and Phyllis, Hal and Wynne, Taylor, Amy and Allen, parking assistants Ted and Richard, pastors Maurice and Aaron, Joy, Cara, and so many others including those who offered moral support and prayers, assistance in finding specific items, and lots of ideas. I don't even know who all stayed and helped take down tables and chairs and clean up, but thank you to each of you. You are all exceptional people for whom we are very grateful.
Pictures will be available on the photographer's website soon. I will post a few snapshots before long. Check out Calli's website, accessed through Leslie's, for some other fun photos.
Thank you all for the prayers and support for Lana and Kyle as they start their life together as husband and wife.
