On August 15, the girls started their 2011-2012 school year. Maddie is in 3rd grade, and Katie is in 1st grade. Katie got "a boy teacher" which made her nervous. But, he turned out to be funny and Katie measures the value of a person based on where they rank comedically, so it's all working out.
Maddie entered the SAGE gifted program for both math and reading this year. It is a lot of hard work, but she is doing well. The school is also taking part in a musical grant program for the first time. This particular grant is funding violin training for all the 3rd graders. They have been learning the basics of holding and playing violins in music class once a week, and are looking forward to a "recital" in a couple of weeks.
