Coloring Eggs in Rochester

So Lana is home in Rochester for part of Spring Break... Yeah! She does have a real job, but it is on a college campus, so she still gets Spring Break!

She and Steve decided they wanted to color Easter eggs, so we boiled the eggs, prepared the required six mugs of dye tablets, vinegar (for brilliant colors), and water. It was so festive with the orange, teal, violet, red, yellow, and denim dye baths in white mugs! But when we looked outdoors, we had to remind ourselves that, yes, it was Spring and, yes, this is Easter weekend! Snow covered the ground and the wind chill was about 10 degrees! Here are a few pictures of brilliant Easter eggs and SNOW!

Lana has always found the violet eggs disappointing. Have you ever noticed how they end up with pink blotches and are never the rich deep purple of the dye bath, but are a much lighter pinky-purple hue. It just isn't right!

Steve, on the other hand, is delighted with every egg. The strange blotches, striations, and speckles make them interesting and unique. (I know this comes as a surprise to most of you who know him!)

Who says Lana is compulsive?

What is wrong with this picture???

Colorful eggs inside, snow-covered yard outside!

Look beyond the egg tray through the window to the snow-covered grass and wall.

Now you get the picture!
Where is the sunshine? Where are the flowers?

Where O Where is Spring?
