We've been trying to stay afloat out here in Arizona, not because there is a deluge of actual rain (not at all) but because life moves at such a pace in this house that I (being a mid-western aunt) cannot keep up.
After our 6-1/2 hour delay in the Indy airport last week, we've entertained 6 extra little girls and their mothers with a Princess Tea Party, as well as having the traditional early birthday party for Maddie and myself (myself being Lana). Emily and I have also been baking a lot - pies, Philly-cheese sandwich roles, cakes, chicken herbal goodness, and much more.
For Maddie's b'day I got her a book called The Three Little Javelinas. It is a hilarious southwestern remake of the age-old tale - The Three Little Pigs. I picked out the bilingual edition to help her with her Spanish, later on, of course.
Although, perhaps the day she begins reading Spanish on her own won't be that far off! Yesterday on our way home from church, as I'm squished in between both carseats in the back of a lovely Mercedes, while Katie pushes at my right arm that is spilling over into her space, Maddie was quietly talking to herself (the quiet part being the miracle). All of the sudden I hear this - Sss-Ppp-O-Rrr-Ttt. "Sport...sport...Hey, Lana, my carseat says Sport!" And in fact, it DID! She read her first 5-letter word. She'll be four in two weeks.
